One of the perks of going to conferences is that you always end up with lots of stuff.  Sometimes it’s random stuff – stickers, pamphlets, books, USB drives – other times, it’s awesome things like Creative Suite 4, alcohol, and shoes (not that I’m biased with the last one…).  The problem is, when you start going to a bunch of these things, you often end up with duplicate things when only one is needed.

So that’s why I’m giving away an X-Shot.  I love the X-Shot. It’s such a simple but awesome tool – helping you take some pretty cool pictures and, if in a pinch, defending yourself from monsters (aka: it seems like it would be an effective weapon).  I’ve used the X-shot to take some fun pictures, get new angels on the same ol’ standby pix, and just try different things.

If you don’t believe, you should try it.  How?  Well – one lucky winner will get the extra X-shot that I received for being a speaker at Izeafest.  X-Shot was a sponsor of Izeafest – along with a certain shoe company – and their people are great.  They’re always active and on the ground supporting the blogger community – so I figured I’ll help them out by trying to spread the word.   Comment below for your chance to win.  Contest ends Friday and 11:59pm Mountain Time.

I've been wanting to play with one of these for a while! I'm never in the pictures because I'm always taking them!

George, After meeting you at IZEAfest and hearing you speak from the heart not only on the panel but after it, I'm not at all surprised by your generosity. Most people I know would keep the extra X in case of emergency or breakage, but this is a spot-on example of paying it forward. I would love to have a shot at that X-shot, but so would all the other lovely folks who commented. What would i use it for? First thing: pic of 2 dogs who outwit and outweigh me. Second hing: taking great shots so I can move from Social Media newbie to Social Media junkie! PS I didn't get my Crocs (they ran out) and I don't mind. "I cried because I had no shoes until I saw the man who had no feet." It's all about perspeXtive! And keeping it! Hope the road is good to you and that our paths cross again soon! Happy trails to you!

Okay, this would be completely awesome. I tend to not be as many pictures with my daughter as I'd like because my husband isn't camera friendly. And I hate the one arm look.
  • CS4, alcohol, and shoes?? For REAL? I really need to get out more! ;p

So nice of you to pay it forward!
  • Thanks for the chance! My teenager would love that as well!
  • I'd love an xshot... there are NO pictures of the four of us, why? Because I'm taking all the pictures of the family. hrmph
  • I'll take the liquor when you come to NYC. Because we don't have that here. At all.

Very nice and thoughtful of you to share the wealth! Of course I would want one to use with my new Kodak Zi8 because it would make life much easier for me on a project I am starting of taking video of my Mom and her memories as a child in Germany, fleeing the Nazis etc. Two things I used to do with the extra swag and review items I received when I was writing for a paper were a) to use them as prizes for my Computer User Group meetings (ever notice how Computer Groups and Drug Dealers refer to their posses as "Users?" Makes you wonder.) and b) - with the toys, flash drives, flash lights (lots of those at one point), pens, etc. I would take them to the local woman's/children's shelter for the staff to give away as gifts. I still do that with all the travel shampoos, soaps, lotions etc. that I get when I travel. Hotels replenish every day and when I have a full shopping bag I make a delivery. I have asked a few hotel managers about their opinion on this and they all have no problem with it. Two managers - in two different chains - both gave me extra supplies when I checked out as a "donation" to the cause.
  • That's really thoughtful! I should consider doing that - especially since I basically live on the road now.

Just remember to bring lots of little ziplock bags with you to pack them. If you don't check baggage (like me for up to a 4 night trip) it should all fit into carry on and still fit the 1 liter/quart bag requirement. (I even did this w/my flights from Canada.) If you check baggage you definitely want the stuff protected from your other stuff. Another tip - when just going w/carry on I always get my toiletries at the hotel. Only bring my own razor. I can use their shampoo, shaving cream, mouthwash/toothpaste, deodorant, etc. for a couple of days. Of course I tend to prefer Hampton Inns/Holiday Inn Express style hotels because of the free hot breakfasts and free wi-fi. (nope not sponsored by either of them) as opposed to the more expense hotels that nickel and dime you for everything including some toiletries. Just FWIW.
  • Oh my heck my teen would love that! I think. Teens are so hard to buy for, you know? But she's always taking those "MySpace shots" of herself, and her arm always looks so crazy...so I think this would be a cool Christmas gift! What? It's not that far away!!
