I finally did my taxes tonight – something that takes me about 35 minutes to do, yet I hate doing it. I don’t know why – since I always walk away with more money than I had before – but it still is a frustrating thing to do.
Americans and taxes – it’s such an interesting thing. We want everything in this world and yet, we’re not willing to pay for it. That is really the root of so many of the problems we do have in this society. We were a country created by men who did not want to pay their taxes and we find ourselves a country that will always hate doing that. So, as we auction off our debt to foreign countries and our economy slowly erodes, you have to wonder – would it really have killed me to not get a refund this year? Would that little extra I pay in taxes help remove the seemingly insurmountable deficit, perhaps provide for a better living for those that can’t provide for themselves, better education for our nation’s childrens….so much more. Perhaps I’m being a bit “left-wing” tonight. Tax season always brings it out in me….
