I didn’t really watch the Super Bowl. I just didn’t care this year. Was this poor sportsmanship because my team didn’t make it? Not really – I just didn’t care about football all year. Like at all. I would spend my Sundays at @TheCupBoulder, reading, or going to the movies. I don’t think I feel like I missed anything special at all these last 5 months or so.
But I do love the commercials. It’s the one time of the year that the commercials are actually paid attention to – and for the most part – the creativity comes forth. The rest of the year – commercials are drab and boring and, as statistics are showing, failing to capture the mind of the consumer. The Super Bowl is the last hurrah for commercials on television. The national holiday to celebrate what intrusion based advertising can really be.
My favorite commercial from the ones I watched post-Super Bowl is below. I like it because it speaks to me. While I’m no avatar, I relate to it. It’s one of the first times I can really say that about a commercial as creative as this one.
