Last night, I went to Ignite Boulder 2 at the CU campus. It was a great event with a tremendous draw – put on by some great guys here in the Boulder area – Andrew Hyde and Jeremy Tanner. It was the first time I was at such an event – by that I mean a “Tech’ event – but it was great. Instead of having to explain why I type @ signs in front of people when I’m speaking to them in an email – it was simply part of the lexicon there. While I didn’t socialize as much as I am capable of (lately I’ve been stricken with a weird shyness that I’ve never had before – more on that in another post), I still managed to meet a few people, congratulate Andrew on a job well done, and have a great time (free beer and lots of laughs will do that)!
The concept behind Ignite is pretty awesome and I think I’m going to try to round up the courage to do it at the next one in February. That would involve me thinking about a topic that I could present on – and deciding if I want to do serious or funny, clever or captivating and all the other variations and permutations that a five minute presentation can have.
Here are some pictures from the event. Keep in mind that I’m the world’s worst photographer. You can also go here to see the rest of the set I took. Again – see the second sentence of this paragraph.
